In the last twenty five years, I’ve been active in all kinds of organisations ranging from youth organisations, sports clubs, service clubs and currently mainly in JCI. The last two decades I’ve been involved in the management of these organisations.
My first steps in leadership where at the local youth organisation. Very quickly I was also involved in the provincial board of this youth organisation. During the summer breaks I loved organising youth camps in Switzerland. For two years I was chairperson of the advisory board for youth affairs to the city of Lommel, Belgium. At that time it became mandatory for every city to make a strategic plan on youth empowerment. As a member of the steering committee of the first strategic plan I was at an early age involved in local strategy and decision making.
In the last few years I was actively involved in JCI as director on different levels: member of the local board, local president, member of the regional board, regional president, member of the national board, national president, member of the international board, member of the international executive committee.
Every level has its own challenges and opportunities. Recently I had the opportunity to get an insight in the operations of an international non-profit organisation. It helped me to get a better understanding of the local, national and international issues within these kind of organisations. The purpose of this site is to share my insights and opinions on topics related to (non-profit) organisations.
